Ruach

God breathes into the void

Whispering peace into chaos

Light into darkness

Substance from nothingness

Divine likeness from earth

Ruach

Divine presence in the womb

Substance from human frailty

Light into darkness

Whispering love into chaos

God breathes, filling the void

Ruach

Ruach (roo’-akh) is a Hebrew word meaning “breath”, “wind”, or “spirit”. It is found in the creation story and its Greek counterpart, pneuma, is found in the New Testament.

This post is part of our reflections for Advent 2016.
