Heavens Gates Have Opened Wide

by Christine Sine
Mum with her "kids"

Mum with her “kids” at her 90th birthday June 10th.

My Mum died this morning at 8:30 am Sydney time. She passed quietly and peacefully into eternity. Over the weekend we had the opportunity to say goodbye to her as a family, a beautiful end to our earthly relationship with our beloved mother.

It has been a privilege to sit with her, read to her and share love with her over these last 10 days of her life. God has been so gracious. Thank you for your prayers and supportiveness. These are the words that revolved in my mind as I held her hand for the last time

Heaven’s gates have opened wide,

Do you see the Saviour calling,

Welcoming her with arms outstretched.

No more crying, no more tears,

Smiling now, forever smiling,

In a world that conquers death.

Do you hear the trumpets sounding,

Rejoicing in the victory shout.

Death’s dark embrace has given way before God’s eternal light.

No more crying for her, but for you there will no doubt be more tears. God be with you and yours in your grieving.

A beautiful sentiment for a loving mother from a loving daughter- you honor her, your family, and our Lord.

We thank God for your mother’s peace at eh last and presence now in eternity and hold you and all the family in our prayers that you may know the loving enfolding arms of Jesus holding you and supporting you at this time.
This is from Celtic daily Prayer
The darkness of bereavement Walking with grief

Do not hurry
As you walk with grief;
It does not help the journey.

Walk slowly,
Pausing often:
Do not hurry
As you walk with grief.

Be not disturbed
By memories that come unbidden.
Swiftly forgive;
Let Christ speak for you
Unspoken words.
Unfinished conversation
will be resolved by Him.
Be not disturbed.

Be gentle with the one
who walks with grief.
If it is you,
Be gentle with yourself.
Swiftly forgive;
walk slowly,
pausing often.

Take time, be gentle
As you walk with grief

Amen!
Thank you, Christine for sharing so much of yourself at this time of your life as you walked through as much of this precious time as you possibly could, being there for your mother, and with her ….. So many of us were blessed and encouraged by your generosity of yourself and your family at this time!

You’ve obviously been blessed in many ways; sharing some of your stories continue to spread the blessings to others and I thank you for your generosity in sharing!
Yours in Christ, Sylvia

Dear Christine,
You will continue in my prayers. What a beautiful reflection. I pray the Lord’s blessing on you and your family.
May the Lord bless you and keep you;
may the Lord show his face to you
and have compassion on you!
In His Love,
Katie

Christine May you be blessed in your grieving as you have been in the time spent with your mum as she passes between her earthly and heavenly lives.

Thank you for sharing this time with your readers/friends. It is a gift and teaching I will cherish in my life and my work as a geriatric psychiatrist.

Rest well in the days and weeks to come wrapped in the strong arms of God.

Fondly Elisabeth (Liz) Drance Vancouver BC
