Dear friends, including those who have supported Mustard Seed Associates and also Christine Sine’s active Godspacelight.com and Liturgical Rebels,
I want to explain why you have heard little from me.
First, Christine and I decided, as many of you know, to resign from Mustard Seed Associates in 2017. It then became Circlewood headed by James Amadon & Forrest Inslee. They would welcome hearing from churches concerned about growing environmental challenges that many communities will be confronted with in our rapidly changing environments.
Until about 5 years ago I was still very active speaking at conferences for churches and Christian organizations and was very busy. However, about 4 years ago I experienced a surprising challenge I had not expected. During the time that others were struggling with COVID, I was suddenly surprised by memory loss that made it difficult to speak publicly.
I am a healthy 89 year old and I am learning to deal with my ongoing memory loss. But as you can imagine it makes it difficult to do public speaking but I do enjoy getting together with friends old and new to continue learning about how Christian leaders are creating innovative responses in these rapidly changing times not only in their churches & neighborhoods but also in the lives of new generations that are eager to find innovative ways to live their lives.
Christine and I have been married 32 years and one of the first things we did was to purchase a house in Seattle that contains three two bedroom apartments. As a consequence we have been able to offer reasonably priced housing to young people on the condition they have a meal with us once a week. It has been a gift to Christine and I to learn from a very creative new generation and they value the lower rent and their interaction with us oldies.
What is most remarkable to me is the new podcast ministry Christine created in our life together that she calls Liturgical Rebels. Christine interviews some very creative Christian innovators.
I am very grateful that she also allows me an opportunity to post weekly good news stories of how creative followers of Jesus create innovative response to these turbulent times and to show other followers of Jesus how they join other Christian innovators to both be a difference and make a difference. By the way, we are both available to help churches to ready for more turbulent times.
Yours,
