Last week I posted on pothole gardening, this week it is asphalt gardening that has caught my attention. It is amazing what we can accomplish with a little God given ingenuity and creativity. And yes you are right I am intrigued by the unusual and quirky ways that people respond to situations. So if you know of other creative and unusual responses to economic downturn please let me know. Picture an abandoned parking lot, one that you barely notice in your neighborhood. Weeds burst through pavement cracks and trash collects against a chain-link fence.
During storms, rainwater runs off in a rush, flooding the storm sewer with every heavy downpour. The parking lot is hot, dry and deserted the rest of the time — not a place where anyone wants to spend time.
Now imagine that same parking lot, transformed. Instead of asphalt as far as the eye can see, the lot now boasts a few raised bed gardens, built directly on top of the lot. Read the entire article
