Today we went raspberry picking. In spite of the fact that we picked what has been the hottest day I can remember in Seattle (98 degrees), we had a wonderful morning and for me a very welcome break after spending last night working on the MSA budget (never my favourite job.) This has become part of the rhythm of my life since I have lived in Seattle. I hate it if we are travelling during raspberry season – in fact I have been known to head out to the raspberry fields travel weary and jet lagged.
I think that we all need little interludes like this. It is a wonderful way to cement relationships when we work and talk together. I think that we covered everything from what we are planning for the next week to the state of our spiritual lives and all those simply glorious raspberries to boot. If you don’t live in raspberry country find out what are the local fruits grown in your area and invite a group of friends to go picking with you during the harvest season. I think that it will provide a never to be forgotten memory.
